Agri-Based Innovation Scouting  | Unlocking the Future of Protein

As global demand for sustainable proteins grows, agriculture is at the forefront of a significant wave of innovation.

To accelerate the transition towards sustainable protein supply, we are launching the scouting program [Proteinnovation Discovery] to identify promising start-ups and innovations in the field of New Proteins.

Our focus is on agricultural relevance: we seek solutions that optimize quality processes, unlock new food and feed ingredients, or make innovative use of agricultural by-products.

By bridging cutting-edge science with practical use cases for the agri-food-chain, we aim to build strategic partnerships that create value for innovators and the agricultural sector.

Searchfields

Feed

Rethinking feed – from imports to innovation.

Innovation opens up major opportunities for the feed industry to sustainably strengthen self-sufficiency. Today, 66% of high-protein crops used in the European feed industry are still imported – for soybeans, the figure is even 96%. Besides, modern technologies offer new, efficient solutions in the production of essential amino acids too. At the same time, climate change demands more resilient production systems to safeguard supply and quality.

We are seeking solutions to optimize production, processes, and end products – through plant-based proteins, fermentation technologies, the use of side streams, and alternative sources such as insects, algae, fungi, or cell cultivation. And of course, exciting “out-of-the-box” innovations are also welcome, with the potential to redefine the feed industry.

Food

Shaping the future of food – with proteins beyond imagination

New consumer habits are driving demand for a diversification of protein sources. At the same time, this brings major challenges – whether in terms of quality, sensory properties, or adaptation to climate change. That is why we are looking for innovative solutions that provide farmers with stable production opportunities while convincing consumers.

Our focus is on approaches to optimize production, processes, and end products – through plant-based proteins, fermentation technologies, the use of side streams, and alternative sources such as insects, algae, fungi, or cell cultivation. And of course, exciting “out-of-the-box” innovations are also welcome, with the potential to redefine the food industry.

Scope Overview

We are scouting globally for the most exciting innovations in the field of new proteins. Applications open on the 1st of October. The most promising innovations, along with partners from industry, research, agriculture and beyond, will be invited to the Proteinnovation Summit in spring, creating a unique forum for exchange and collaboration. We more specifically seek solutions in following areas:
