Since the start of our challenges, we would like to give a short update – because a lot has happened since then.

Robotics & Smart Implements Challenge

Under this title, fully autonomous robots or smart implements were sought worldwide for production-specific applications in the field of “weed control” in arable and vegetable farming, as well as in wine and fruit growing. In addition to this, the category “the perfect use case” scouted optimal solutions for specific problems that were previously unknown to us.

Following the application phase, the best solutions are currently being identified by the RWA technology units and the Lagerhaus Technik-Center (LTC) in a clearly defined selection process and these will be invited to the Demo Days in October. Here, as the final step in the programme, the selected technologies will be observed and evaluated in practical use situations. So, there are lots of reasons for being curious about which solutions we will present at the Demo Days in October. The most promising ones will then be acquired for use in Austrian agriculture, either as a service of – or exclusively distributed by – the LTC.

A special feature of this Challenge programme is that we have been able to obtain numerous ecosystem partners from industry, science, the public sector and the global innovation scene as supporters. These partners and all further information on the programme can also be found on the Challenge website.

Seed Innovation Challenge

Our second Challenge programme of this year is looking for new approaches to seed production in categories such as field production, seed processing and breeding – but all other innovations on the topic of seed production are also welcome. The aim is to attract the best for RWA and its “Die Saat” brand as it positions itself as an innovative pioneer in the market. Early access to innovative solutions creates competitive advantages and added value for breeders, multipliers and, last but not least, farmers. After their application, companies are evaluated by the experts of the RWA Seed Department. The best submissions will be pitched by the inventors themselves at a summit from 16 to 17 November 2023, the “Seed Innovation Days”.

We have also succeeded in acquiring numerous national and international partners as supporters for this programme. More information on the programme and a list of all partners can be found on the webpage of the “Seed Innovation Challenge”.

Applications with an innovative solution for seed production are still possible until 23 July. So don’t hesitate to apply with your idea yourself or to forward this information to potential applicants.
